Once again good old number 95 was again denied entrance in to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The latest players inducted include, Gene Hickerson (G), Michael Irvin (WR), Bruce Matthews (G/T/C), Charlie Sanders (TE), Thurman Thomas (RB), and Roger Wehrli (CB). We all know Richard Dent belongs in Canton but for some reason the Pro Football Hall of Fame's 40-person Board of Selectors have decided otherwise...yet again. What does Richard Dent have to do to get inducted? Why does he continue to be overlooked? Dent played 12 of his 15 seasons with the Bears, registering a franchise-high 124½ sacks. He was named Super Bowl XX MVP, was an integral part of a championship defense that is considered one of the best in NFL history and was selected to four Pro Bowls. In 1984 Dent led the NFC and the Bears with a team-record 17½ sacks. Then, during the 1985 season, he recorded 17 sacks while helping lead the Bears to their first world championship in 22 years. Let's all hope the Class of 2008 will finally mark the end of Richard's long wait to gain entrance into the Hall of Fame.
