Brown gained notoriety as the starting left guard for the Buffalo Bills. He was regarded by many as one of the best interior lineman in football. Brown was named to eight consecutive AFC Pro Bowl teams from 1996 to 2003, though in his final year some regarded the selection as based more on his reputation.
In the final game of the 2003 season, the Bills sent Brown home, causing him to miss his first start since 1999. Brown was released by the Bills after the 2003 season, and signed with the Bears. In 2004 Brown started only nine games due to injuries. He had a revival in his career in the 2006 season after the Bears made the Super Bowl, and has been named to the 2007 Pro Bowl.
