“He sounds like a combination between Jesus and Ben Stiller. ” Martellus Bennett delivers once again. The unlikely mix of Stiller and the Almighty was in reference to how Josh McCown sounds in the huddle.

McCown reacted with stunned silence and a smile. “I’m still trying process Ben Stiller and Jesus… I just want to be presently there to listen to them two talk. ”

Bennett followed with, “we all have noticed Jesus, some of us just aren’t hearing. ”

All of us laughed. But in reality, the Bears better all be listening to McCown on Sunday. The Rams include a very fast defensive front leading the league in sacks per pass play. Robert Quinn with 12 sacks and Chris Lengthy with 6. 5 are the second most sack prolific Defensive Finish combo in the league…. which was a long way to say they are very, very good.

Jordan Mills has the tough task of blocking Lengthy, big brother to Kyle who’s offered tips but can’t fully get ready for what Mills will see.

“He’s the first defensive lineman and defensive player to move on every snap. You just see how relentless he is and not showing any fatigue after that. Just shows how great of a player he is. ”

Mills knows that means he must be on his game- extremely technique sound and focused. It will be loud. It’s a big stage for Lengthy and his whole family. This will calculate how far the rookie has come by means of 11 games.

Jay Cutler continues to make improvement, out of the cast again today, yet he remains week to 7 days. And everyone praising the starting QB for his contributions towards the team despite being sidelined.

“He’s been amazing, ” Trestman said. “He’s in Josh’s ear at practice favorably reinforcing him. ”

McCown too praised Cutler. “Can’t ask for anybody better. He’s been really helpful, because what he’s going through stinks. Nobody wants to be injured, but he’s managing it well and then some. ”

That doesn’t mean the Bears will rush your pet back. Though the ankle has nothing to do with the particular groin, you have to wonder had Cutler waited until this Sunday to return in the first place, perhaps the record would be 7-3. That’s just speculation at this point… no one knows. But having two efficient quarterbacks in a league that’s tough to find one for each team is a reward, no matter what the final 6 games bring.

INJURIES: Shea McClellin and Patrick Mannelly were full participants in practice today. This is a reward. McClellin will likely play this week. Isaiah Frey has a cast on his wrist but will play. Cutler no solid, he will not. Lance Briggs continues to help coach but no public update. No sign of Peanut Tillman… anywhere.
